Women in Politics

The overall goal of this theme is to build capacity and strengthen the competencies of the women and specifically aspiring women in politics in Somalia. Women in Somalia must be able to realize their fundamental rights as enshrined in the constitution and other international conventions to constructively and effectively participate in policy-making processes, access justice, and develop leadership in Somalia.

Fohof and its partners will effectively design, deploy, and deliver impactful programs that will be measurable and will increase women’s political participation.

Fohof intends to start its programs locally, i.e., from the Federal Member States, and when we strengthen the ability of local women to understand and participate in local politics, only then will we drive the national campaign program.

To do this, Fohof will work with stakeholder institutions, donor agencies, grant-making entities, INGOs, local NGOs, and countries that champion improving women’s issues globally.
